W S O P
The World Series of Poker began in 1970 when Benny Binion invited six players to play a small event. Since then the tournament has developed into a world-wide phenomenon with thousands of players making the annual journey to Vegas for their chance to make it big. In 2009, Harrah's decided it was time give the world a WSOP-branded online poker room.
The result was a very capable poker room, which uses the reliable 888.com software, called WSOP Poker. WSOP Poker offers No-Limit Holdem, Pot-Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo with full ring games, sit-and-gos and multi-table tournaments available in each poker variant.
All the industry standard features are there with avatars, multi-tabling, player notes, advanced search and filter options and hand history analysis tools. The site is already a popular destination for players just learning the game and it's possible to find some incredibly soft games right now.
The small stakes No-Limit Holdem games are particularly good for experienced players looking for fish. While the WSOP was very late to the online poker game, the great brand recognition has made it one of the fastest growing rooms on the internet (at least in the UK, which is the only place its available right now) and the potential for integration with the live WSOP in the future can't be overlooked. If nothing else, this is going to be a room to keep an eye on over the next few years.
Bonus Payout WSOP Poker welcome bonuses release at the rate of $1 per 10 Reward Points generated. If a player deposits $100 he will have to accumulate 1,000 Reward Points to earn a $100 bonus. Loyalty Program As soon as you start playing for cash at WSOP Poker you're instantly enrolled in its rewards program. Players can earn both Reward Points, which are essentially WSOP.com frequent player points, and Status Points. Reward Points can be used at the upcoming WSOP Poker store to collect cool merchandise or satellite entries. The Status program offers four tiers of monthly status including Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Players who reach the upper tiers will find it easier to generate Reward Points. There are also VIP and VIP Diamond status levels for the entire year.
WSOP Poker offers a wealth of tournaments at varying buy-in levels, although the majority of action is in the under $10 range. The players are generally quite soft and it's likely many are playing poker for the first time after seeing a WSOP broadcast on TV.
WSOP.com is also one of the best places to qualify for the live World Series of Poker in Vegas as well as other tournaments like the Aussie Millions. There are also a number of freerolls on the site for players looking to build a bankroll from virtually nothing.
The overall theme is dark and matches the premium WSOP aesthetic very well. The site's software comes from 888.com which is the new Poker 6 software and the people behind WSOP Poker have done a great job of making that platform shine. Users benefit from good multi-table functionality, short-cut keys, re-sizable tables and player notes. The graphics are solid with customizable avatars, backgrounds and card decks plus a choice of three main views: classic, avatar and clear.
Games offered include Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card and Seven-Card Hi-Lo. Overall it's a tight and clean software package. Soft competition If you like playing against bad players you're going to love WSOP Poker. A large number of players seem to be playing poker for the first time and it's easy to understand why the first place they go is WSOP Poker. We've seen plays that range from bizarre to just plain terrible at various tables. Although there are some exceptions the play is generally very loose with some players willing to see a flop with any two cards. It's worth noting that although the high-stakes games are not very populated at this time anyway there are some good players there. Best to stick to the micro-to-medium stakes if you're looking for soft games.
